Intrum payment plans

Independent guidance on Intrum payment plans, affordability assessments and what to do if you cannot pay a debt in full.

Intrum says it can set up monthly payment arrangements based on what a customer can afford and uses the Standard Financial Statement to assess income and outgoings. A plan should not leave you unable to meet priority bills or essential living costs.

How Intrum assesses affordability

Intrum says its payment-plan process uses the Standard Financial Statement and takes account of income and expenditure. Customers can also use its self-service portal to complete an income and expenditure form.

If you cannot pay anything

Intrum states that if a customer cannot afford to pay, it will not ask them to make a payment and can direct them toward free debt advice. If that reflects your circumstances, say so clearly rather than agreeing an unsustainable amount.

Review the underlying account first

Before setting up a plan, confirm that the debt is yours, the balance is accurate and whether Intrum owns the account or is collecting for somebody else.
