EDF says customers struggling to pay should contact it promptly. Its current guidance says it can set up affordable repayment plans based on individual circumstances and aims to resolve arrears before recovery action becomes necessary.
Ask for an affordable plan
Explain your income, essential household costs and any vulnerability or change in circumstances. A repayment arrangement should be based on what is sustainable rather than simply clearing the balance as fast as possible.
If the debt remains unresolved
EDF says unpaid balances can progress to debt collection, credit-file reporting or legal action in some circumstances, so engage early and keep written records of any arrangement.
